Readers & Writers Series
The LEAF Readers & Writers Series is a monthly literary event at LEAF where we provide a stage for kids, staff, and guest readers to come up to the mic and read a favorite poem or short story to an audience. We also encourage them to read their own stories and poems they write in our creative writing workshops. We occasionally host a published author in children’s literature, which gives kids a chance to ask questions and participate in author-led activities in creative writing. Moreover, the R&WS has helped us identify which kids need some extra help, so that we can provide extra support to correct phonological deficits.
